The Casts Museum of the Department of History and Archaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has implemented a large number of interdisciplinary research programs and cross-curricular educational projects under the direction of Profs Th.Stefanidou-Tiveriou (1994 – 2016) and B. Schmidt-Dounas (2016 – today). These programs have been carried out as part of collaborations with Greek and international public Institutions and have involved a considerable number of researchers and trainee students. The resulting research outcomes (including postgraduate and postdoctoral theses) have been presented in a series of archaeological conferences and have been published in monographs and scientific journals. They have also enriched the declarative knowledge of academic teaching and have been at the heart of temporary exhibitions and in situ educational programs for students (aged 4-18) and teachers. These programs transform the Museum’s permanent and temporary exhibitions into taught knowledge with the use of modern non-formal teaching models.
